Overview
Asana Rebel is exactly what you would expect when picturing a premium Yoga workout app. The app design is clean and stylish, and contains over 100 workouts where instructors perform yoga routines set in beautiful locations, such as beside pools and beaches.
The workouts tend to be quite fast flowing, which will provide a good challenge for users who already have experience with Yoga.
Clearly Asana Rebel is aspiring to be more of a fitness lifestyle app than simply a yoga workout app. A range of supporting content and features including mediation sound tracks, healthy eating recipes, and workout reminders have been included in the app to support the workouts.
Down Dog yoga takes a different approach to providing you with your workouts. There is not library of workouts to look through, instead you specify what type of workout you want by selecting a few options such as duration, yoga style and body focus. A custom workout is then generated for you, which means in every session you will get a unique workout, with a huge range of styles available that are suitable for all experience levels.
There are little other supporting features in Down Dog. The app is all about the yoga!
Both apps will require a paid subscription to use (Asana Rebel is free but you will need a subscription to unlock all the content and features). Down Dog is slightly cheaper at $9.99 per month, where as the minimum subscription length with Asana is 3 months at $37.99 (just under $13 per month).
Which is better? Asana Rebel or Down Dog Yoga?
Beginners will love the Down Dog app, with its huge variation of workouts and ease of use for finding them. On the other hand with Asana, users with little yoga experience will struggle with the fast pace of the routines.
There is clearly more content available in Down Dog as the app generates a unique routine for every workout. Compare this to Asana Rebel’s relatively small library of just over 100 yoga workouts.
Users with more experience in Yoga who are looking for more of a lifestyle app will appreciate the challenging workouts in Asana, and the range of supporting features such as healthy eating recipes and mediation sound tracks.
